Rotary Club Malta is organising a workshop for all Rotary and Rotaract Clubs in Malta and Gozo to assist them in leveraging the power of the Internet and Social Media to promote the visibility of their Clubs.

One of the challenges of Rotary clubs around the world is to broadcast the message about their values, their projects and the work in the communities they serve. This workshop will assist the Clubs in being more successful in communicating their work and impact in the community.

One of the challenges that Rotary and Rotaract Clubs around the world have is to broadcast the message about their values, their projects and the work that they do within the community.  While of course the object surely should not be for the Clubs to boast about our work, it is important for them to engage society, attract other like minded people interested in being of service to the community and, also, to attract financial sponsors and ensure a high reputation for Rotary to ensure sustainable support.

Over the years, the tools available to disseminate this message have increased and continue to evolve but surely the power of a Club's web site, particularly with a site optimised for discovery of the information contained therein, and a Club's presence on Social Media such as Facebook, LinkedIn etc is today crucial.  In addition, there are specific techniques in writing, choice of words, method of posting and places to post which impact the effectiveness of such communications.

Rotary Club Malta has invited all the other Rotary and Rotaract Clubs in Malta and Gozo to nominate participants to this seminar being run free of charge by Shireburn Software on the 5th March 2015 at 14:00.   Attendees are expected to be those people in each of these Rotary and Rotaract Clubs who deal with PR and the Club's web/social media presence.  The objective of the workshop is to expose everyone to the tricks, tools and techniques available to enable optimisation of a Club's Internet and Social Media presence.

Topics that will be covered include tips and tricks for:

  • creating a Facebook presence for the Club
  • posting techniques and choice of wording
  • setting up adverts on Facebook for promotion within a tight budget
  • writing to optimise being found on the Internet and in the media
  • analytics

Although the session will cover technical topics and will be hands-on, the idea is still to provide a simple introduction that would allow each of the clubs to improve their visibility and effectiveness.
