Rotary Club Malta started a new chapter yesterday with the induction of our first female member into the Club.  Sue Simons, an ex-Rotaractor whose late father was an English Rotarian, was officially inducted into Rotary Club Malta on the 29 January by President Robert Ghirlando in the presence of District Governor 2017/18, John de Giorgio.

 
 

RC Malta Inducts First Lady Member 

It was fitting that in the year that Rotary Club Malta celebrates the 50th Anniversary since its foundation and the year in which the District Governor of our District 2110, Sicily and Malta, is a memberPast president Ian Decesare pins Sue Simmons together with President Robert Ghirlando. of the Club, that the Club should induct its first female member.  Sue Simons, a professional fund raiser, ex-Rotaractor whose late father was a Rotarian in the United Kingdom, was inducted into the Club by Rotary Club Malta President Prof Robert Ghirlando in the presence of District Governor 2017/18, John de Giorgio.  Sue had been proposed for membership by Past President Ian Decesare.
 
During her induction ceremony Sue, visibly emotional, spoke about her background in fundraising for good causes and explained that she was thrilled and honoured to be able to serve in the Rotary Club of Malta.
 
Rotary in Malta is organised into three Clubs: Rotary Club Malta, Rotary Club La Valette, founded 15 years ago and Rotary Club Gozo, founded 10 years ago. 
 
The Clubs have undertaken many progects in the community both locally and internationally and have provided 23 scholarships for post-graduate, international studies.
