Kids of Africa founder, Burkhard Varnholt, will be the host at RCM's first on-line meeting. Burkhard will be speaking about the wok of the Kids of Africa NGO and the projects that have been undertaken jointly with Rotary Club Malta over the last 10 years.


 

 

 

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Rotary Club Malta's meeting of Monday 20th April will be held on-line and our special gust speaker is Burkhard Varnholt, who will be joining us on-line from Switzerland.

As well as being a leading Swiss Banker, Chief Investment Officer of Credit Suisse (Switzerland) Ltd, Burkhard founded the "Kids of Africa" charity in 2004, which runs an orphanage for homeless children in Uganda and various schools. Rotary Club Malta's association with KoA goes back to 2009 since when our club has:

  • implementation solar heating systems at the KoA orphange (2009/10)
  • implemented a photovoltaic system to provide energy both to the orphanage but also the wider community (2010/11)
  • built a school in Nkose, assisted and part financed by KoA, called Rotary Malta Primary School
  • currently is completing the building of a second school, in Lewero, Uganda (2019/20)

Burkhard will be speaking about the work of Kids of Africa as well as the projects that have been undertaken jointly with Kids of Africa.
