Rotary Club Malta donates a 17-seater van to Dar il-Kaptan
8 April 2011
Rotary Club Malta have presented a 17 seater van to Dar il-Kaptan, the respite home in Mtarfa originally set up with the help of the Club. The van will be used by Dar il-Kaptan to transport its clients to and from its premises.
The presentation of the keys to the van was made by Rotary Club President 2010-2011, Ian De Cesare to Alfred Bezzina, chairman of Dar il-Kaptan, who responded by thanking Rotary Club Malta for once again coming to its assistance saying that, without Rotary’s constant support in the last 20 years, Dar il-Kaptan’s continued operation would be in jeopardy.
The presentation was held at DIK premises in Mtarfa on the 8 April 2011 and was attended by a number of members of Dar il-Kaptan’s Board, staff and clients, together with members of the board of Rotary Club Malta.
The purchase of the van was possible after the holding of a very successful fund raising event held at the Bay Arena on the 25th March 2011 which raised some €36,000 for the purchase of the van.
Rotary Club Malta has supported Dar il-Kaptan throughout the years since it was originally established 20 years ago with the Club's help and has been responsible over the years in extending the premises with a new wing to celebrate the centenary of Rotary, the implementation of air conditioning, the provision of specialist equipment, the purchase of a previous van, the holding of a Hands-On Day, the implementation of a solar heating system and direct financial support. The list goes on.
