Rotary District Governor Visits Rotary Club Malta
11-13th Dec 2009

The Governor of Rotary District 2110 (Sicily & Malta), Francesco Arezzo di Trifileti, visited Rotary Club Malta between the 11th and 13th December to familiarise himself further with the work of the Club and to meet with members and the Club's board. The visit coincided with the 42nd charter anniversary of Rotary Club Malta. The Governor was accompanied by his wife, Mrs Anna Arezzo, and the District Secretary, Titta Sallemi, and his wife Maria Teresa.

The activities commenced with a visit to the President of the Republic, Dr George Abela, at the Palace in Valletta together with the leaders of the three Rotary Clubs in Malta and Gozo. During this visit, the Governor was able to inform the President about the objectives of Rotary and the many projects undertaken by the local Rotary Clubs both in the Maltese Islands as well as overseas in addition to the work being undertaken by Rotary International in the global fight against polio >> more.

The Governor also visited Dar il-Kaptan, the respite home in Mtarfa, which has been strongly supported by the Club since its foundation in 1990, during which he provided a donation in the name of Rotary District of Sicily and Malta to assist the home's operations. The Governor was most impressed by the sterling work undertaken at this home. This was the second visit to Dar il-Kaptan by the Governor who had also participated, together with his wife, in the Rotary Hands-On Day held there in October.

The Governor and his team were also taken to Gozo where they were toured around the Sannat Primary School where Rotary Club Malta recently inaugurated an excellent project aimed at providing access to drama facilities for the Special Needs Unit at the school. The Governor and his team were also hosted to a dinner at the Auberge D'Aragon by the President of Rotary Club Malta, John de Giorgio, and the President of Rotary Club La Valette, Douglas Salt. The dinner was attended by 126 members and their guests.
