Rotary Club Malta Launches 2nd Hands-On Day - 10th April
Dar Jeanne Antide
BOOKINGS CLOSED - Max numbers reached
Rotary Club Malta is holding a Hands-On Day at Dar Jeanne Antide on the 10th April where its volunteers will undertake a make-over of the home for girls in Santa Venera.
Dar Jeanne Antide forms a part of the Conservatorio Vincenzo Bugeia and is a residential home for adolescent teenage girls with ages ranging from 11 to 17 years. There are currently 12 residents in the home which also has a long waiting list. These are girls who for some reason or other cannot live in their natural family. Some of the girls are placed in care on a voluntary basis (that is their parents/legal guardians want them to be admitted to care) while others are protected by a Court Order or Care Order. Dar Jeanne Antide is located at the end of St Joseph's High Road in Santa Venera near the round about opposite Bank of Valletta's new head office (see location map for Dar Jeanne Antide)
Like any institution, the fabric of the home is always in need of attention which, given restrictions of budgets, rarely manages to be given. The Rotary Hands-On Day will serve as a major boast to improve the conditions of the girls living in the home.
This will be the second Rotary Hands-On Day and follows the extremely successful event held at Dar il-Kaptan last October (>> see photos) where seventy people gave up their time on a Saturday rolling up their sleeves to update, makeover and maintain the property and gardens of Dar il-Kaptan.
The objective of the Rotary Hands-On Days is to get Rotarians, families and friends to go up to Dar Jeanne Antide for a fun day where we will spend energy, rather than money, making a difference. It is incredible what a difference we made last time.
We are aiming at 50-75 people split into groups each lead by a professional in the field covering gardening, painting of rooms, painting of windows and doors as well as general maintenance jobs. This will be an all-day fun event with food, drinks and music by a DJ.
The event will be a great help to the home whose resources are very limited and are stretched to provide even basic services to their clients.
For those of you not able to attend, donations of money to cover some of our costs of materials will be greatly appreciated. Please address these to Rotary Club Malta and send them to 1 Don Rua Street, Sliema.
We would like to thank the following companies for their support:
