Improving Rotary's visibility through the Social Media presence of Clubs was the topic of a workshop organised for all Rotary and Rotaract Clubs in the Maltese Islands and held at Shireburn Software on the 5th March 2015.  The practical workshop exposed the participants to techniques for writing for the media, search engine optimisation, social media tools and management and the guidelines for the usage of the Rotary brand.

A workshop was held by DGN John de Giorgio for those personnel within all the Rotary and Rotaract Clubs of the Maltese Islands who are responsible for managing the public relations and image of Rotary.  The free workshop, held on the 5th March 2015 at the offices of Shireburn Software, aimed to expose the participants to techniques to allow them to increase the effectiveness of diffusing the message of Rotary through the Internet and social media.  One of the challenges that face Rotary Clubs around the world is how to broadcast the message about their values, their projects and the work that they do within their communities.

A talk was given by Monique Chambers on writing for the media which explored what and how to write press releases and articles to increase the chances of publication.  Joel Farrugia, a Documentation Specialist at Shireburn Software, then took the participants on a journey related to search engine optimisation, understanding keywords, Facebook advertising and targeting and some of the available Facebook and Google tools.  DGN John de Giorgio then gave a presentation on the Rotary Brand including brand guidelines to ensure consistency of message.

The workshop was attended by representatives of Rotary Club Malta, Rotary Club La Valette, Rotary Club Gozo and the soon to be chartered Rotaract Club Gozo.
