Rotary International President K R Ravindran starts a five day visit today to Malta, as a guest of the Maltese Government, to speak at the biennial Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).  

 
 
Rotary International President K R Ravindran starts a five day visit today to Malta, as a guest of the Maltese Government, to speak at the biennial Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) on the subject of resilient societies. 
 
The work undertaken by Rotary and Rotarians globally to improve societies, and in particular the Rotary Areas of Focus, which lay emphasis on disease control, water, education and promoting peace are all factors that are crucial to the promotion of resilient societies and President Ravi will share some of the experiences of Rotary in this field, particularly through its End Polio Now campaign.
 
The CHOGM meeting is an important one where heads of Government from 53 countries meet to discuss common issues that effect the 53 countries of the Commonwealth which represents a total population of 2.3 billion people across the globe with large countries like India, Pakistan, Nigeria, the United Kingdom, Australia and Canada discussing alongside smaller countries like Malta, Singapore, St Kitts, Trinidad & Tobago, among others.
 
President Ravi, accompanied by Mrs Ravindran, will also being finding time to meet local Rotarians and will be the guest of honour at a dinner hosted by Rotary Club Malta and Rotary Club La Valette.  
 
The visit of President Ravi coincides with the pre-planed annual official visit of the District Governor Rotary District 2110, Francesco Milazzo who currently overseas the 92 Clubs in Sicily and Malta.
